In an effort to live more simply, I limited my music in 2012. I allowed myself to create a playlist by adding one song per day throughout the year. The songs had to come from my collection. I could add no new music unless it was a gift. Theoretically, by the end of the year I could be listening to 365 songs. My objective was to reduce materialism, reduce purchases of new music, and reduce the time spent seeking out new music.
It worked—in a way. The list only reached 286. And by the end of the year, I kind of hated music. I was tired of it. It all seemed pointless, vapid.
Regardless, here is my list of 286 songs by genre.

I don’t live life simply. I am just a plain simpleton. I listen to my Bat Out of Hell album over and over and over again. However, Bat Out of Hell is not pointless and I never tire of it. It just reminds me that “there ain’t no Coup de Ville hiding at the bottom of a Cracker Jack box” which most other music promises.
With that nugget of information (the lack of Coup de Villes), I guess I can quit buying Cracker Jack. (It is great to hear from you.)
I am constantly amazed at what you listen too, and from your post I believe you already have all of this in your collection. I thought I had a lot of different music, but I can’t even begin to touch yours. I love your lists.
